The focus here is on crisis
The Placement Auction has been created. The auctioneer, escalating bids, children displayed as “lots”, investors and commissioners competing over placements, and the child witness anchoring the moral critique from the foreground.
The satire is directed at the system rather than any individual. The auction room transforms familiar sector allowing viewers to see what is often hidden behind procurement language, placement scarcity, and market mechanisms.
