‘Star is in the East’ – the NCERCC Christmas story 2025.
People have been asking when the NCERCC Christmas story is going to arrive. Here it is!
It can be downloaded HERE (because it’s longer than our previous Christmas stories).
A lot happens.
Here’s an all too brief summary. So much more happens than in this summary!
It’s the morning before Christmas Eve, two children, who know they need caring for, make their way to the local social work office.
They meet a lovely warm receptionist and an impressively helpful social worker. The children drink hot chocolate and are introduced to cranberry sauce, that is described as “like jam”.
There are no options, the brother who is older has a place at a local children’s home, and the younger sister one with a home that specialising in younger children. Star, the sister, feels listened to as she did not want foster care as “I’ve got a mum. I don’t need another one.”
In the rush Geo realises he doesn’t know where Star will be. He starts a resourceful series of ways to find Star.
He arrives at the home…’ Room ok. Clean, tidy, nice colours. Some clean clothes, nice ones too, been thought about. Done this before. Obv. Wash bag. Towel. This lot are good, used to children like me, got things in store. Warm. I got an en-suite! Me, an en-suite!!!’
But no Star. He needs to find her asap. “I need to know where Star is. She needs to know I know.”
Whilst out shopping the manager tries and tries and tries to find out where Star is. Geo arrives back to no news.
The manager advocates for ‘our child.” Geo thinks the manager, “did good, It’s not ok but you’re good.”
Overnight Geo comes up with an inventive way to find Star. In this summary we’ll not say what it is, but it involves a lot of people and trust.
The story rattles forwards (you’ll need to keep up!) through some adventures to a happy ending with presents “that money can’t buy”.
It is a story of imagination.
We hope you enjoy it.
